Dr. Heinz K. Meier served ODU from 1960-1975 as professor and then department chair in the History Department, and from 1975-1985 as Dean of the College of Arts and Letters. He was born in Zurich, Switzerland on October 13, 1929 and died in 1989. In addition to his background of growing up in Switzerland in the 1930s and 1940s, the interview discusses the philosophy behind American vs. Swiss education, developments in the History Department and College of Arts and Letters, his involvement with the Swiss American Historical Society and the World Affairs Council of Hampton Roads, and his views on life and religion.
