Description:
A crowd of more than 400 attended Old Dominion's 10th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance, January 13 at the Fieldhouse. Above left, USA Today columnist Barbara Reynolds makes a forceful point during her keynote address. She encouraged the audience to continue espousing the slain civil rights leader's belief in the power of love and resisting violence, and she also urged students to resist the messages of Hollywood's profit-driven "gangster rap and ghetto movies," telling them, "You're going to have to march against exploitation just as I marched against racism."
