Roy Kershaw of Parker Systems Inc. demonstrates an oil snare used to help clean up the Alaskan and Kuwaiti oil spills during a June 4 news conference announcing the opening of the Environmental Technology Center. Looking on is William A. Drewry, associate dean of the College of Engineering and Technology. The center is a joint effort among Old Dominion, the City of Chesapeake, and local private business that have problems. Parker Systems developed the oil snare along with the College of Engineering and Technology and the Technology Applications Center.
