Description:
A usual, it was a hot summer day when the Hourly and Classified Employees association sponsored its annual picnic. But this year the event was held in a different location, near the University Boathouse, and picnickers were able to get out on the water in canoes following a meal that featured fried chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers. Approximately 200 staff members, spouses, and children took part in festivities on June 28. Larry Cullipher, grounds supervisor, steers his craft to shore as another canoer heads out on the Elizabeth River. Joining Cullipher for the ride were his children, Mary, 18, and David, 13.
