Dr. Jean A. Major served as University Librarian from 1992 until her retirement in 2002. Dr. Major was born in Illinois. The interview discusses Dr. Major's background and various developments in the University Library during her tenure: the building construction and renovation project, development and fundraising efforts, library technology, collection development and the library's role in the university. There is also discussion of the Friends of the Library, the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA), and the Rotary Club.
