Tynicia Gee steps up for a higher vantage point as she searches the crowd at Norfolk Scope for friends and family. A physical education major, Gee is from Cherry Hill, N. J. Approximately 1,400 students received bachelor's degrees and 600 got graduate degrees at the university's 70th commencement program, which was held May 7. As part of his advice to the graduates, Lieutenant Governor Donald S. Beyer Jr. said, "Read everything you can. Don't turn the light out at night without reading for half an hour. Never walk past a bookstore without going in. You can read to save the world."
