The Annual Fund campaign breakfast meeting was a festive affair, complete with balloons, cheerleaders, and a pep talk by men's basketball coach Oliver Purnell.

Dr. Jack C. Kanter '35 of Norfolk, president of the Norfolk Division Alumni Chapter, accepts the chapter charter from Skip Williams '83, the Alumni Association's vice president for chapters. Actress Deborah Shelton and Henry Clay Hofheimer II strike up a conversation following the Annual Fund kickoff breakfast on April 11. Shelton, an Old Dominion alumna, was presented a certificate of recognition at the breakfast. She will be in Norfolk through Memorial Day shooting a movie, titled "Twilight Blue." Hofheimer, a well-known civic leadere and longtime supporter of Old Dominion, was the keynote speaker. He encouraged the university to set its sights high in building its endowment and offered fund-raising tips to Annual Fund volunteers.
