Judging from the reactions of the audience, Old Dominion's First International Mechanical Engineering Design Challenge, featuring teams from the university and Facchhochschule Wilhelmshaven in Germany, was a crowd pleaser. At left, two students operate their remote-controlled devices, which were designed and built to move ping-pong balls from one site to another on an auditorium stage in Kaufman-Duckworth Hall.

All eyes are on the robotic arm in a lab at Kaufman-Duckworth Hall during the College of Engineering and Technology's open house. Visitors who dropped by the robotics lab received a hands-on demonstration of robotic equipment as tours of other engineering labs and facilities.
