A fire ocurred at the Norfolk Division campus on May 9, 1955. Shown are the remains of one of the tar paper shacks which caught fire. The shack had housed the Norfolk Division's yearbook staff. The tar paper shacks were purchased from Naval Station Norfolk in 1946.

A second fire occurred in the same week of May, 1955 on the Norfolk Division campus. A firefighter fights the blaze in one of tar paper shacks which had been purchased from Naval Station Norfolk in 1946.
