Here he discusses tree growth with Walter H. Searcy, who had been the forest supervisor before Union Camp Corporation donated the area to Old Dominion University.

Turkey oak in the Blackwater Ecological Preserve, which is part of the Zuni Pine Barrens. The turkey oak, so-called for its leaf resembling a turkey's foot, flowers in the spring. The Blackwater Ecological Preserve is owned and managed by Old Dominion University.
