Antal Takacs entered the College of William and Mary, Norfolk in the fall of 1957. He came to the college sponsored by the Norfolk Rotary Club. He was born and raised in Hungary and left during the fall 1956 revolt. At the time of the revolution he was attending the University of Budapest as engineering freshman. He came to the U.S. in January 1957, through the World University Service. He studied English for 12 weeks at St. Michael's in Vermont before being placed in an American College.

Chloe Christie is a student nurse at Norfolk General Hospital taking courses in connection with her work at the Norfolk Division. She is from Cyprus and attended schools there until she was 15. Her family has come to the United States and live in Virginia Beach, where she graduated from high school.

Dionysia Sckoulareke of Athens, Greece is being welcomed to the Norfolk Division campus by Mary C. Nolley and Jane Lee Bowden. Sckoulareke enrolled at the Norfolk Division of William and Mary after arriving from Greece on May 19, 1955.

Gail Freeman is from Newcastle on Tyne in England. She is attending William and Mary, Norfolk, taking a secretarial course. Her step-father is Commander I.M. Balfour, SACLANT, and is stationed in Norfolk.

1958

Henry Esber of Tripoli, Lebanon is studying pre-medicine at the Norfolk Division. He came to the U.S. in January, 1958 and entered the college of William and Mary, Norfolk in February. He has a brother, Raymond who also attended the Norfolk Division and is now a bacteriologist at Leigh Memorial. Henry plans to return to Lebanon when he has completed his education.

Marika Eliadaka who received her B.S. in Secondary Education in June, 1958. She was born in Crete where she attended elementary and secondary schools for girls. She entered the Norfolk Division in 1954 and became a citizen in December 1957.

Mireille Kamen entered William and Mary, Norfolk in September. She is originally from Antwerp, Belgium. She has been in this country since she was 11 years old but returns to Antwerp quite often to visit members of her family.

1958

Mitri Muna entered William and Mary, Norfolk in September 1957. He was the first recipient of the R. Finney Markham Scholarship. He was born in Jerusalem but lives now in Amman, Jordan. He is studying engineering and plans to attend V.P.I. in September, 1958. Mitri plans to return to Jordan upon completion of his education.

Ohn Lwin at the home of Mrs. Helen Smith, Powhatan Avenue. Lwin is a Burmese student sponsored by the Norfolk Rotary Club, boarded with Mrs. Smith while in Norfolk. He transferred to VPI during the Spring quarter in March 1955.

Sadiq Audeh Saleh of Jordan and Jae Won Song of Korea are two foreign students enrolled in the first semester of 1954-55.

1954

Vapee Bhirombakdi entered the College of William and Mary, Norfolk in February, 1956. He is from Bangkok, Thailand and is studying Business Administration. He is sponsored by the Student Department for Siamese Students. He spent three weeks at the American University, language center for foreign students before entering the college.

1958

Victoria Watson a member of the International Club. While she is an American, her parents lived in China for a number of years. At present she is taking nurses training a Norfolk General Hospital and attends the Norfolk Division for her courses.

Mrs. Violette Williams came to America from Paris, France in 1953. She is married to an American and entered the William and Mary, Norfolk in September, 1957. She is majoring in Education and plans to teach when she completes her education.

Yasir Allis was born in Bireh, Palestine but now lives in Jordan. He entered William and Mary, Norfolk in September 1957.
