Oliver Purnell (left), named March 27 as ODU's new head coach of the men's basketball team, waits with WTKR-TV sportscaster Ross McCallum for their cue to begin a live interview for the station's evening news program. Purnell's selection culminated a three-week national search following the March 7 dismissal of Tom Young. Within hours after signing a long-term contract, Purnell met with players, administrators, alumni, and the media for a press-conference in the New Administration Building board room. "I think I'm one of the luckiest guys in the world," Purnell said. "Not only am I a coach in Basketball, which is obviously a passion of mine, I'm doing it at home."
