A segment about the effects of kepone contamination in the James River near Hopewell, Virginia. Reporter Ed Hughes, interviews scientists, medical specialists, government officials, and fishermen regarding the damage that kepone has inflicted. Kepone, an insecticide used to kill roaches and ants, was manufactured by Allied Chemicals and Life Sciences plant in Hopewell Virginia. Kepone sickened Allied Chemical workers and its byproduct was dumped into the James River. Fishing was banned in the river from 1975-1988, which resulted in economic losses for the fishing industry in Virginia. Sound goes in and out through the entire footage.
