Students of the College of William and Mary in Norfolk conducted guided tours of the new library during open house on Sunday October 18, 1959. Here a group of visitors pause by the portrait of Mr. Robert Morton Hughes for whom the library is named. Mr. Hughes was an alumni of William and Mary in Williamsburg, active in the affairs of the college, and a prominent Norfolk attorney.
