Compiled outtake footage of striking Newport News Shipbuilding workers who are part of the newly formed United Steelworkers Local 8888, who broke apart from the company union (Peninsula Shipbuilders Association) to protest unfair working conditions and pay, as well as discrimination. The strike lasted eighty-two days, then followed by six months by lawsuits from both sides in which the 4th Circuit Court ruled in favor of the union. An agreement between the union and the shipyard was reached on March 31, 1980. Compilation of B-roll/outtake footage. 0:12:53

The Marine Floridian's steering malfunctioned which caused the ship to lose control and maneuvering, and thus colliding into the bridge.
