Calder S. Sherwood III, Professor Emeritus, served as faculty member in the College of Sciences from 1939-1977, teaching chemistry, astronomy, and geophysical sciences. Sherwood served as Chair of the Chemistry Department from 1941-1969 and Chair of the Geophysical Sciences Department from 1971-1977. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on November 1, 1911 and died August 9, 1977.
