The store is closing due the Maritime Building being sold and other JCPenney stores open nearby (i.e. Military Circle and Lynnhaven Mall). Footage of an accident investigation at the VEPCO (Virginia Electric and Power Company) Gas Works, located on Monticello Avenue and East 9th Street in Norfolk, Virginia. The investigation involved both VEPCO employees and the Norfolk Fire Department. The VEPCO Gas Works was closed down in the 1960s with its tanks drained and dismantled. The brick building where VEPCO offices were house is now the location of the probation and parole offices of the Norfolk Police Department. Footage of a First National Bank of Norfolk branch under construction in the Maritime Building, located in Downtown Norfolk. The Maritime Building was built on the site of the old Norfolk City Market and Armory and opened for business in 1960. The building boasted a JCPenney department store, a Hot Shoppes Restaurant, a parking garage to fit over 700 cars, and a eight story office tower. In the fall of 1996, the Maritime Building was demolished for the construction of the MacArthur Center shopping mall. Footage has no sound. B-roll/outtake footage. 0:00:32

Segment on the development of the Carper Apartments military housing complex . The complex is to house U. S. Navy personnel and their dependents in 600 units. Virginia Beach city officials fear traffic congestion on already heavily used Princess Anne and Salem roads, due to the density of the complex.
