The building was originally a private residence named the Joynes Mansion which was built in 1913 and became a restaurant in 1953. Footage of the luxury passenger liner S. S. United States going through a refurbishment. From 1952-1968, the S. S. United States was the choice of overseas travel for many people, including celebrities such as Bob Hope, Marilyn Monroe, and Duke Ellington. The S. S. United States was withdrawn from service in 1969, due to the growth of transatlantic air-travel. The liner passed through different owners, proposing various ventures that never came into fruition, including making it into a hotel and casino, a Caribbean cruise ship, and a possible hospital ship for the U. S. Navy. As of late 2019 the liner is docked at Pier 82 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, awaiting its fate (conservation or becoming an artificial reef). Footage has no sound.
