Folder 08: Greek/Social Organizations: Sigma Alpha Iota

One of the newest sororities on campus is the music sorority, Sigma Alpha Iota, organized in October 1956 for girls majoring in music. At the piano is Mrs. Eugene (Jane) Paxhia, sponsor of the sorority. The newly installed members of the Gamma Zeta Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Sorority which was formed on the campus of William and Mary, Norfolk, during the 1957-58 school year. The installation took place on December 7, 1957 in the recital hall of the Fine Arts Building. The new members of the sorority are from L-R: Vivian Young, Mrs. Eugene (Jane) Paxhia (sponsor), Athena Bassil, Peggy Weisiger, Dorothy Linzey, Mary Felts, Betty Rae Owen, Jackie Anderson, Anne Lee Burcher, Elizabeth Elder, Eleanor Ryder, Ethlyn Howard.
