Kevin Gallup, sculptor, ODU alumnus, and adjunct instructor in their art department, poses with a "Mermaid" sculpture casting. Gallup helps mass produce the sculptures with the help of the castings, in which the finished products are available for local artists to decorate. The "Mermaids on Parade" project for the city of Norfolk, was the idea of ODU alumnus and attorney Peter G. Decker, Jr. and his wife Bess. They were influenced by Chicago's "Cows on Parade" sculptures.
